Our Story
Before the trucks, the crew, and the name everyone knows, there were just Tony and Susan, a newlywed couple with a baby on the way. After 13 years as a tree surgeon with Asplundh, Tony decided it was time to build something of his own.
In the winter of 1995, with Susan eight months pregnant and spreading the word any way she could, Smitty’s Tree Service was born. Armed with nothing more than a borrowed truck, a rented chainsaw, and a fearless love for climbing, Tony—one of the top-ranked employees at one of America’s largest government-contracted tree companies—set out on his own. No fancy equipment.
No crew. Just hard work, years of passion and expertise, a solid reputation, and a promise to show up when people needed help.
Thirty years later, that same promise still defines who we are. Smitty’s Tree Service remains local, family-run, and committed to caring for the very trees Tony climbed as a teenager in this community.
